Samsung Galaxy Gio (S5660) - Another variation on the same theme is the Samsung Galaxy Gio. This time comes with a 3.2 "320 x 480 pixels display, 3 megapixel, 800 MHz CPU with 158 MB of RAM, microSD slot with a 2 GB card in the sales package, standard 3.5 G support, Wi-Fi and GPS plus a basic 3 megapixel camera on the back, running Android 2.2 again.

Samsung say that "Gio " comes from the Italian for "jewel ", but in reality the Gio is a very boring looking device that follows the usual black slabby pattern for smartphones. Still, it seems suitable enough and should definitely be a good enough Android smartphone for most users. No guidance was given on price or availability, but the Galaxy Gio almost certainly will be available in some markets this quarter.

Apple announce Ipad 3 Launch in February

If all this talk about iPad 3 is getting too much to bear, so that you may not have endure it much longer before Apple makes the decent thing and announces the new device. With reports of production is already under way, has a Japanese blog now chimed in with his thoughts on when Apple will keep their launch.

Quoting sources involved in the production of the device, says the site expect a iPad 3 event in early February, with a release in early March. This would rather than with the iPad 2 launch, which came at the end of March 2011, meaning that the current tablet will have been on sale for less than a year before his successor hits the shelves.

This is not the first time we've heard rumors about a February iPad 3 event, but the previous date suggested was 24th February, a date coinciding with the late Steve Jobs ' birthday.

A February announcement of the iPad 3 will also see it compete with news coming from Mobile World Congress, set to open its doors on the 27th of the month.

The Japanese source also adds that the iOS 5.1 also will be announced at the iPad event, ready to release a touch before the new tablet. While beta versions of the new operating system has been circulating since November last year, there is little in the way of information about all the new features.

Apple also hosts special educational event in New York (January 19) tomorrow.

Unfortunately, T-Mobile USA are very eventuality Windows Phone and in this way have I stuck with my HTC HD7 and Dell provides Pro for over a year. They are still fixed devices in WP, but looking for something different and now settled on a single device while waiting for the high class between 900 Lumia Nokia, which may be coming sometime this year.

A few months ago, I took a look at the HTC 4 G Radar and recently wrote up some first impressions of the Nokia Lumia 710. I recently paid $ 750 for a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Yes, that's a bit crazy, but part of my job to get the latest and greatest), but now I have pretty much given up on it and am back to Windows Phone for almost completely on the T-Mobile. I personally find the Windows Phone platform to be much more effective for daily usage and decided this is my personal platform of choice.

Nokia Lumia 710 and HTC 4 G radar on and off by using the last week or two after I've decided that the HTC 4 G Windows Phone radar for me and I have this before something is right along. I have removed the radar equipment and now one of the 4 G Setup is supported on my Zune Pass too phones. I really like the Lumia 710 would have been my phone and T-Mobile and Nokia would have just appeared in Nokia Lumia 800 T-Mobile USA is likely to have the support of, and then my phone.

Screen size: Radar 4 g has a a slightly larger screen, 3.8 Vs 3.7 inch, but the effect is that there is a difference even small and 3.8-4 in over 800 × 480 pixels resolution, such as Windows Phone.
Factor and quality: The radar is much nicer than the aluminum foil Peel plastic and Lumia 710 soft touch. 710 display is, I never seen to collect fingerprints and face the fat out of its worst and it's not clean easily. That radar looks great white and seems very expensive phone.
Larger capacity battery: the battery mAh with radar in 1520 as Lumia 710 with 1300 mAh removable one. I get better battery in range but you can have too much spare for Lumia.
Capacitive buttons: I've been familiar with capacitive buttons and cannot be used for the step that Nokia do with physical buttons on bar Lumia 710. I kept hitting it with no action taken.
HTC: HTC utilities carefully telephone utilities allow you to select options for reducing the volume of the ringer when you pick it up, increase the volume when ring in your pocket, flip to activate the loudspeaker, and flip to mute the ringer. These are very useful utilities for a phone.
WiFi hotspot: The HTC 4 G radar supports the WiFi hotspot functionality in the mango WP software. Lumia 710 can finally get this in an update, but the radar has it now.
Front-facing camera: I know this is not the most important feature, but work with Tango on the radar now with Skype eventually comes out, it could be a big problem.

Lumia 710 is a decent tool, especially at just $ 50, and has the advantage over Radar 4 g. Lumia 710 comes with Nokia Nokia Maps so that You can get full offline GPS navigation with the device. There is a third-party programs for Windows Phones so you can get this on my Radar 4 G as well, but if Your phone is an important navigation with Lumia 710 maybe one then to consider.

Both are usually low-mid range Windows Phone devices, their slow processor speed, slower data limit (14.4 Mbps, instead of hspa + radio 21 or 22) small internal memory capacity (8 gb) and I think because of the low price. However, the lack of the ability to store 25 gb Skydrive is available for free, and I'm finding do even with 25 + 1.5 gb on the installed applications still Radar 4 g (about 6.5 gb can be used over). You can also flow through the Zune music or Slacker radio and started to feel it might be good on Windows Phone 8 gb.

Why am I one of them I HD7 or Dell for I wondered? Camera HD7 is terrible, the battery life is limited, and these two devices have better displays. DVP is a great device, and the camera is hardly applicable.

I hope that the Aurel 710 and Radar 4 G low prices and excellent performance encourage people to try out Windows Phone since I think my personal favorite and believe that it is a system that someone should try to believe in architecture. The customer reviews for both devices are excellent with both currently earn 5 star ratings on the T-Mobile site. I look forward to more Windows Phone News on Mobile World Congress and CTIA in the coming months and I'm hopeful that we will still see more compelling hardware for T-Mobile USA.

UPDATE: I was just informed that Mark Guim from The Nokia Blog posted the video below yesterday that offers a very nice video comparison of these two devices. In addition to the HTC Hub, I think the HTC utilities I mentioned above are even more compelling.

Looking Good Smartphone – Samsung Galaxy Nexus

As fans of Google's Android mobile software well know, each new version is named after a sugary treat, such as Gingerbread or Honeycomb. Android is about to get even sweeter with Ice Cream Sandwich - a smooth, feature-rich operating system that will run first on the delectable Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone.

The combination of Google's software and Samsung's hardware makes the Galaxy Nexus one of the best candidates to compete with Apple's latest iPhone, though its price is steep. It will be available Thursday in the U.S. for $300 with a two-year Verizon Wireless contract.

Like the previous phone in the Nexus line, the Nexus S, the Galaxy Nexus was jointly developed by Google Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. It features a slim frame with a large, curved glass screen that's comfortable for chatting with friends and excellent for watching videos. There are 32 gigabytes of built-in storage space on the Verizon version of the phone, but no external slot for a microSD memory card.

The screen, a pocket-busting 4.65 inches at the diagonal, makes the iPhone's 3.5-inches look diminutive. And despite the size, the Galaxy Nexus manages to weigh just 4.8 ounces, slightly less than Apple's offering.

On it, videos and Web pages looked crisp and bright, with rich colors. I started watching a video during testing - an HD copy of "The Help" that I rented from Google's Android Market - and had to force myself to break away to test other features of the device.

With the latest version of Android under the hood, the Galaxy Nexus is packed with new and improved features. Many of them are great; others are simply great in theory.

Overall, the software looks fresher and less cluttered. The virtual "buttons" that usually sit at the bottom of the screen have been redesigned. There's still a "home" and a "back" button, but no "menu" button to pull up various options within an app. Instead, there's now a "recent apps" button that shows what you've been doing lately on the phone.

Another neat change: The buttons are completely virtual, so they change directions when you flip the phone sideways and disappear when you're viewing photos or videos.

Other changes to Android include an overhaul of its virtual keyboard, meant to make it easier to type without messing up - something I've always had trouble with on the stock Android keyboard. I was often able to type more accurately than in the past, but sometimes still ended up with unintended words in my messages.

The Android browser and Gmail are updated, too. Gmail's new functions include the ability to search emails while offline, while the browser is zippier and has a "request desktop" option so you can check out webpages in their non-truncated desktop version.

One new feature that falls into the "great in theory" category is Face Unlock, which uses facial-recognition technology to unlock the phone from standby mode. To set it up, you take a picture of your face with the phone. Then, all you have to do to unlock the phone is stare at the screen after you press the power button.

Most of the time it didn't work, though, probably because the phone couldn't recognize my face from certain angles. I was also able to fool it by holding up a shot of my face on an iPhone. So much for security.

Ice Cream Sandwich also has Android Beam, which lets you share such content as a Web page, map or video between two Android phones by bringing the backs of the phones close together. It only works with phones that have this Android software and near-field communication technology, though, so unless you and your friend both buy the Galaxy Nexus you'll be out of luck at launch.

More immediately useful was the phone's 5-megapixel camera, which is the snappiest I've seen on any Android phone. There was almost no shutter lag between shots, even when I had just turned the camera on.

Still, I would have preferred a higher-resolution sensor - 8-megapixel cameras are quickly becoming common on smartphones. In addition, photos I took could have been brighter, though this can be improved on somewhat by using some of the available editing options, including numerous color filters and adjustable contrast options.

Like the iPhone 4S and some other high-end smartphones, the Galaxy Nexus can record high-definition videos in 1080p - the best resolution you can get on a consumer camera. I had some fun taking sunset videos with a time-lapse feature, and there are some goofy filming effects to play around with, too.

And yes, you can make calls on the Galaxy Nexus. Its thin body and curved screen make it comfortable to hold against your ear, and calls generally sounded good.

Sadly, high-speed networks guzzle battery power like a milkshake, so I wasn't able to spend a ton of time using the device on a single battery charge.

The phone Google loaned me to test was a version that works with AT&T or T-Mobile, so I couldn't test its speed or battery life with the carrier actually selling it in the U.S., Verizon, or with its high-speed 4G network.

Using both T-Mobile's standard 3G and speedier HSPA+ networks, at least, I got about three hours and 15 minutes out of the Galaxy Nexus for surfing the Web, streaming a movie, sending instant messages, chatting on the phone and other activities. The phone got quite warm with all this use. Over Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network, it's possible that the phone's battery would drain even faster if you're doing a lot of downloading.

Another bummer: Verizon is blocking the Galaxy Nexus from supporting Google Wallet, which is supposed to allow the phone to be used to buy items in some stores by tapping it to payment terminals.

Generally, though, the Galaxy Nexus is a well-rounded smartphone that serves up a noticeably freshened-up version of Android with sleek hardware. Delicious, indeed.

Apple closely German court reject in row with Samsung

DUESSELDORF, Germany (Reuters) - A German court rejected Apple's claims that Samsung Electronics' reworked tablet PC still looks like a copycat version of the iPad, in a preliminary assessment.

Apple is fighting several rival makers of smartphones and tablet PCs in courts worldwide over intellectual property.

Its battle with Samsung, which is Apple's supplier as well as a competitor, has been especially bitter, with some 30 legal cases in 10 countries.

"According to the court's assessment, the defendant has moved away sufficiently from the legally protected design," Judge Johanna Brueckner-Hofmann said in court on Thursday.

Brueckner-Hofmann added that a ruling was slated for February 9.

In response to an earlier court ruling in Apple's favour, Samsung had redesigned its Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the German market only and named it Galaxy Tab 10.1N.

But Apple challenged the reworked version as well, seeking an injunction that would ban Samsung from marketing the product in Europe's largest consumer market.

Samsung, for its part, earlier this week filed new claims in a separate dispute related to telecommunications standard technology with Apple for alleged patent infringements in Germany.

HTC & Samsung - Make LTE Windows Mobile phones

HTC and Samsung will be launching Windows Phone handsets with the capability to handle the latest LTE technology very soon. Both smartphone manufacturing giants are leading partners of Windows Phone after Nokia.

The soon-to-be launched devices will run a pre-Tango build that supports LTE,reported The Verge.

The report further discloses the codename of the devices. The Samsung device is codenamed Mandel and HTC model is codenamed Radiant. The Samsung device is expected to have a large touchscreen.

Both devices will be made available in early 2012 around the same time Nokia will launch its Windows Phone in the US.

The LTE devices will be powered by Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and may have a Tango update that support low end phones and the Apollo update to support high end handsets will surface during the fourth quarter of 2012. This information was given out through an alleged leak of Microsoft's 2012 Windows Phone roadmap.

LTE is a very important feature which is often desired by users. Tech journalists often regard this as a deciding factor. So definitely this is good news for Windows Phone which needs a strong push in this highly comparative market.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime offers up a 10.1-inch Super IPS+ LCD that operates at a resolution of 1280x800 pixels and has a pixel density of 149PPI, which is pretty impressive.
The screen is striking, with sharp detail, vivid colours and pleasing viewing angles and it's big enough to enjoy movies and other media, without having to screw your eyes up and resort to painkillers after 15 minutes.
The iPad 2's display is equally as impressive. It's 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS TFT operates at a resolution of 768x1024 pixels and has a pixel density of 132PPI which is good, but on this occasion not good enough.
The iPad 2's screen performs exceptionally, though, and is responsive to the lightest of touches making it a pleasure to surf the Web.

Beneath the stunning screen technology lurks the engine room, and what is secreted therein usually makes or breaks a tablet in today's market.
Apple's iPad 2 is imbued with a dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU clocked to 1GHz and also offers a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU to take care of the eye-candy and gaming.
Disappointingly, though, the iPad 2 only has 512MB RAM, leaving it well behind the leading tablets from other manufacturers.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is a heavy hitter. Far too heavy for the iPad 2. The device is driven by a quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and offers up a ULP GeForce GPU, which will have any game you throw at it running full-tilt.
On top of the monster processor the device also boasts 1GB RAM and 32 or 64GB of on-board storage, compared with the iPad 2's 16/32/64GB options.
It will come as no surprise to you that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime wipes the floor with the iPad 2 in the power stakes and we're quite sure it would out perform many laptops and desktops too.

The iPad 2 runs on Apple's iOS platform, the latest iteration of which, version 5.0, is simply fantastic.
It's so easy to use a toddler could get things done in short order and has enough visual appeal to excite the most discriminating design student.
In addition to its simplicity and power, the device also has at its disposal Apple's App Store, which is brimming with apps, many of which have been designed with the tablet in mind.
Asus' Eee Pad Transformer Prime runs on version 3.2 of Google's Android OS, which is a specially tweaked version of the OS, designed for tablets only.
It's attractive, powerful, offers a ton of customisation options and benefits from Google's Android Market, which is full of apps, many of which are free.
Where it falls flat, though, is tablet-specific apps, or more appropriately the lack thereof. Many of the titles on offer, though, excellent in smaller resolutions, appear misshapen and out of whack on the tablet's screen and this is a massive let-down for a device that's otherwise incredible.

We compare Nokia's new joint venture with Microsoft, the Lumia 800, with Motorola's newest Android device, the XT910 'Razr'

Nokia's Lumia 800 is the company's first Windows Phone powered smartphone, and the device looks to have it all in its toolbox. With Nokia's famed build quality, Microsoft's up and coming OS and some Carl Zeiss optics thrown in for good measure there's no doubt the Lumia 800 can hold its own in today's market.
Its adversary in this comparison is no chump though. Motorola's Razr XT910 takes all of the company's mobile nous, which has now been expanded through Google's acquisition, and adds a touch of dual-core magic, to create a device which has been generating plenty of positive press.
Which of these contenders will come out on top though?
Display
Motorola's Razr comes with some pretty impressive screen technology, in the form of a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen that operates at a resolution of 540 x 960 and offers-up a pixel density of 256PPI.
Nokia's Lumia 800 isn't terribly far behind though, with a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, running at 480 x 800 and boasting a pixel density of 252PPI.
By now we should all be well aware of the virtues of AMOLED displays, and these two devices are all the better for their inclusion. Power demands are low, blacks are pitch, colours are vivid and your media will look brilliant.
Motorola's Razr takes the tape in this round though, simply because its Super AMOLED is brighter, offers better sunlight legibility and demands less power than its AMOLED cousin.

Nokia has imbued the Lumia 800 with more power than it's ever given a device before and the performance given by the single-core 1.4GHz Scorpion CPU is, as always, impressive and dependable.
The Snapdragon chipset also features a reliable performer in the Adreno 205 GPU, which will have your games and eye-candy running perfectly.
The device features a Windows Phone standard 512MB RAM, which is by no means a hindrance, but could hamstring the device's future development.
Motorola's Razr weighs-in heavy in the running-gear stakes though, and its 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU is more than a match for the Lumia 800's single-core processor.
On top of its dual-core CPU, the Razr offers PowerVR SGX540 graphics and 1GB RAM, making it the choice du jour if you're all about the power.

Nokia's long and productive relationship with Carl Zeiss continues with the Lumia 800 and the device's 8-megapixel camera, which also benefits from auto-focus, dual-LED flash, 720P movie capture and geo-tagging, takes impressive photographs in ideal conditions.
Unfortunately the Lumia 800 falls flat when you're trying to snap impromptu shots though. It can be slow to focus and is pernickety about what it considers to be 'ideal' conditions, meaning your subject may have popped off for a brew by the time your Lumia 800 snaps your picture
Motorola's Razr has an 8-megapixel camera too, and it's performance is solid overall. The camera features an LED-flash, touch-focus, geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilisation and 1080P video capture, and the end product greatly benefits from these additions.
On top of a decent primary camera, the Razr also offers a 1.3-megapixel secondary, so you can video chat on the go, a feature that is noticeably absent in the Lumia 800.

Nokia Lumia 800 update, better battery & WiFi sharing

For all you Windows Phone Nokia Lumia 800 toting fans out there you might like to keep your eyes on your smartphone today as word is you will be receiving an update to your Nokia Lumia 800 starting as of today the 7th of December and apparently it isn’t the 7.10.7740.16 update mentioned last week.

According to an article over on My Nokia Blog by way of WMPoweruser, this new update for the Nokia Lumia 800 could possibly deliver WiFi sharing along with battery improvements to the handset, we previously posted that Nokia would be rolling out an update after numerous complaints of battery issues.
Nokia had previously mentioned that an update for the Nokia Lumia 800 would bring WiFi sharing and better battery life and it appears that they have kept good to their word and the update is said to roll out today to all countries that have released the Windows Phone.
Other than that little piece of information on the Lumia 800 update there’s no word on if the update delivers anything else. So if you do own a Nokia Lumia 800 keep your eyes open for that update to hit and once it does feel free to let us know if it does solve the battery problems or if you find anything else new by posting to our comments area below.

Nokia Lumia 800 vs. HTC 7 Trophy: Which is faster?

The Nokia Lumia 800 has been billed as the first ‘real’ Windows Phone and we recently proved it be one of the fastest, when it thrashed the HTC Radar in all of our speed tests. Today we’ve been putting the Nokia Windows Phone head-to-head with the HTC 7 Trophy, but which one will win out? Join us as we find out.

To test the web browsing speed of both the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC 7 Trophy Windows Phones, we opted for a two-step test procedure. First we ran a timed hands-on test to assess real-world browsing speed and then we ran a professional benchmark test, to obtain an industry standard testing score.

The first part of our test was to load NokNok.tv on the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC 7 Trophy and record how quickly each device rendered the site. With both handsets connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, we loaded up the text-only version of the site in the smartphone’s Internet Explorer Mobile 9 browser.

Since the text-only version of NokNok.tv is extremely resource light, we found that both the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC 7 Trophy loaded it extremely quickly. However, the Nokia Lumia 800 certainly had the edge against its rival, with the full page loading noticeably faster on the Nokia Windows Phone.

Next we loaded the full desktop version of NokNok.tv. Again the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC 7 Trophy were set up identically and connected via Wi-Fi and again the Nokia Lumia 800 proved far faster, loading the website in just under seven seconds, while the HTC 7 Trophy took just over nine seconds to finish.

With such a clear difference in performance, we were keen to try out some industry standard benchmark testing, to confirm for certain how much faster the Nokia Lumia 800 is when compared to the HTC 7 Trophy. To do this, we used Sunspider Javascript Benchmark 0.9.1, which you can try yourself here.

HTC Corporation today unveiled the HTC Rhyme in India, a phone whose design incorporates a unibody design, is available in three colours, and features a 'refreshed' HTC Sense.

The Rhyme comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA, super LCD display, a 5-megapixel camera that includes auto focus, power LED flash and instant shutter, face detection , action burst scene - which automatically takes five consecutive shots of a scene- and panoramic mode - which lets users stitch several photos. Moreover, through HTC Watch, users can access a selection of movies and TV shows that can be downloaded for viewing.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has set a new Android standard, but did you know that Motorola has just released a device that can match it on specs – and with an impressive camera to boot? No, we’re not talking about the Motorola RAZR – meet the Motorola XT928.

4.5-inch HD screen
The Motorola XT928 reverts to S-LCD after the disappointing Super AMOLED effort of the Motorola RAZR. That looks like a good move, as what the display will lose in colour contrast it will gain in size and sharpness. It’s a 4.5-inch HD (1280 x 720) unit, which should place it above the Galaxy Nexus for sheer sharp-edged detail.
1.2GHz CPU
It looks as if the Motorola XT928 is the equal of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for raw performance, thanks to a similar 1.2GHz dual-core processor. We expect this is the same TI OMAP CPU as can be found in the RAZR (which itself is known as the XT912), and which is very similar to the Galaxy Nexus’s.
13-megapixel camera
Now here’s a killer feature for you. While current high-end smartphones seem to have settled upon 8-megapixel as the ideal camera resolution, the Motorola XT928 leaps to 13-megapixel. That’s even more than the still-awesome (at photos) Nokia N8. Still, we all know by now that a good smartphone camera relies more on a solid image sensor and a decent lens. Even so, this makes the Galaxy Nexus’s 5-megapixel unit look a little weedy, doesn’t it?

Android 2.3
Alas, the Motorola XT928 comes with an out-of-date version of Android. We’re being a little harsh though, as only the Samsung Galaxy Nexus itself runs on Ice Cream Sandwich at present. You can bet your bottom dollar that this phone will get an update soon enough – especially as the new Android OS is designed with large HD displays in mind.
RAZR styling
While it’s not as slim (what phone is?) or arguably as pretty as the Motorola RAZR, the XT928 does borrow a few visual cues from its striking sibling. There’s a familiar flat, textured back and a slightly protruding camera unit. Imagine a RAZR that’s let itself go with the mince pies (’tis the season after all) and you’ll get an idea of what the phone looks like.
Out now… in China
Can’t believe this phone passed you by? Well, that’s because while it is indeed out now, it’s out now in China. There’s no word on when (or even if) the XT928 will make its way to the west, but given its impressive specs, we’re certainly hoping it will – and soon.

Two handsets heading to China, the Motorola MT917 (heading to China Mobile) and the XT928 (heading to China Telecom) are the two most powerful smartphones ever made by Motorola.

Both handsets feature a 4.5" 720 x 1280 pixel touchscreen on the front, a 13 megapixel camera on the back and a 1.2GHz dual core CPU with 1GB of RAM. The MT917 is styled after the Motorola RAZR (complete with Kevlar back), where the XT928 is a slightly more traditional design.
Other features on these two phones include a 1.3 megapixel video calling camera, 1080p video capture with the main camera, a Gorilla Glass coated display and all the usual features that you would expect from an Android 2.3 smartphone.

The MT917 is a TD-SCDMA device, the XT928 is a CDMA handset, but otherwise both seem to be very similar, and they are certainly more powerful than anything we have seen from Motorola in Europe or the US.
Motorola have been heavily involved in the Chinese market for some time, with several quite desirable handsets being made available only in China over the years. We don't know if these handsets will make it out of China in a modified form though, Motorola have been quite picky about markets lately and not all recent handsets have been available worldwide.
The Motorola XT928 and MT917 should be available on their respective carriers from December onwards.

Nokia jumps as NSN, phone demand fears ease

(Reuters) - Nokia shares jumped on Monday as fears eased over a slump in a phone demand after signs of strong Black Friday sales in the United States, coupled with loss-making Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) dismissing some expectations it would need to raise more money from its parents. Initial signs of the sales on Black Friday -- the kick-off of the U.S. holiday shopping season -- were good, boosting gadget makers' stocks across the board, and pushing aside fears the economic downturn would hit the smartphone industry badly.

Shares in Nokia were 4.9 percent higher by 1008 GMT, outperforming a stronger STOXX Europe 600 Technology Index.

Parents Nokia and Siemens have provided capital "for the last time" and expect this investment will provide results, according to a copy of a letter sent from NSN Chief Executive Rajeev Suri to NSN's 74,000 employees, seen by Reuters.

"There has been speculation on the market that Nokia and Siemens would need to pay more," said Pohjola analyst Hannu Rauhala.

NSN has struggled to make a profit since being set up in 2007 and last week it announced plans to axe 17,000 jobs, nearly a quarter of its workforce.

"Our profitability remains far too low, with huge net losses since the start of the company. We continue to burn cash and have consistently generated negative free cash flow," Suri said in the letter seen by Reuters.

"We have too many businesses that have never produced adequate returns and regions that continually deliver losses."

NSN was formed by Finnish cellphone maker Nokia and German conglomerate Siemens in the hope of building enough scale to lead an industry dominated by Swedish company Ericsson and, increasingly, by Chinese entrants.

It has faced aggressive pricing from rivals and an economic downturn that has forced telecoms companies to cut spending.

After the last week's job cut announcement, several analysts said they thought the venture would need to raise more money from its parents to cover the restructuring costs on top of the 1 billion euros ($1.33 billion) it raised in late September.

Nicely, I never know exactly what outdated controller you happen to be speaking about, but I am going to take it as the SNES. There is a wii accesory referred to as the “basic controller”. It is like a new edition of the SNES controller that is compatible with the wii. It nevertheless has a cord, but the cord plugs into the back again of the wii remote. You can discover them at any electronics or most convinient merchants like Target or Wal Mart.

Samsung's latest Galaxy S2 commercial has mercilessly mocked the loyal Apple iPhone fans who recently waited in line for the new 4S smartphone.
The ad, which will air in the US on Thanksgiving Thursday, features a host of caricatured iPhone enthusiasts lining-up outside Apple Stores lookalikes, nine hours before it goes on sale.
The cutting commercial, which you can watch in the YouTube clip below, portrays the Apple fanboys' excitedly speculating on the new features, before their attention is drawn to an S2 user.

"I'm creative"

Initially they're impressed by the device's screen screen, but as soon as one of the fanboys discovers that it is a Samsung phone, he sneers: "I could never get a Samsung, I'm creative."
His pal, also waiting in line, quips back with "Dude, you're a barista," while the commercial also baits Apple for the lack of 4G mobile broadband and a supposedly inferior and smaller screen.
The ad ends by saying: "The next big thing is already here."
Apple and Samsung are already embroiled in a smartphone turf war with Apple claiming the range of Galaxy phones and tablets 'blatantly copied' the iPhone and iPad.
Commercials portraying Apple enthusiasts as blind lemmings, blinded by Apple's marketing tomfoolery isn't likely to see Apple call of its legal dogs in the near future.
The commercial doesn't specifically mention Apple by name, but check out the video below and try not to smirk just a little bit.

HTC Radar Review: 4G Phone For T-Mobile Is Speedy, Cheap

The HTC Radar 4G From T-Mobile

(1.) Too many new smartphones try to mimic that elongated black-box look of the iPhone; the HTC Radar 4G, mercifully, does not. Available exclusively on T-Mobile (and what a shame it is that customers on other networks don't have the option to try it), the Radar is a sleek, silver-on-white eye-catcher of a phone. A small part of its visual appeal is Windows Mango, the beautiful operating system still unfamiliar to most everyone who doesn't work for Microsoft. The Radar doesn't look like all the other chocolate bar smartphones, which means more attention for the person who pulls it out of his or her pocket. Let us hold up the Radar as proof that handset manufacturers can still draw up a smartphone that is not a flattened black brick. Let us also hold it up as proof that it is possible to get a nice, attractive, functional smartphone for $99.

(2.) The Radar is light in the hand -- it almost feels fragile or empty-ish on the insides, to its minor detriment -- and rounded-smooth on the corners. It is a palpably well-built phone, front and back. The only physical buttons are a lock-screen button on top of the phone (same positioning as the iPhone's), a long volume bar on the right side and a Microsoft-mandated camera button below that. The screen never really showed the smudge of my fingerprints, though the white face-plate did catch mysterious small black smudges, probably from the dyes of my clothes, on occasion. One minor point of hardware annoyance: The lock-screen button, on the top right of the phone like the iPhone's lock-screen button, was recessed too far inwards, making it more difficult than it should have been to lock/unlock/power off. Pop it out on the second-gen, HTC.

(3.) Performance-wise, the Radar is zippy-quick. Perhaps it is due to the physical weight of the phone, but the Radar emits an illusion of sprightliness and instantaneous reaction-time. Of all the Windows phones I've used, the Radar feels fastest (specs comparisons of processors would indicate otherwise, but I trust my eye). Mango is still Mango (review here): an attractive mobile operating system that is comparatively lacking in apps but is cutting-edge in design, terrific for communication across several platforms (Facebook, SMS, Twitter and more) and an early-adopter's dream (get this hipster OS before it goes mainstream!). The Radar 4G comes with Slacker Radio, T-Mobile TV and a few other "entertainment apps" that you will most likely replace, ignore and/or abandon.

(4.) Camera-loading time is solid, if not great; camera quality is also solid, if not just okay. There's a front-facing camera, too, a nice add-on for a cheap phone. No complaints about call quality, SMS delivery or data downloads or uploads; T-Mobile's "4G," though not the faster of the two HSPA+ networks the carrier offers, offered quick speeds throughout New York City. Battery life was somewhere approaching excellent -- I was often able to go two days of heavy use and constant push email without plugging in.

(5.) The main draw of the HTC Radar, however, is its outward design. It's one of my favorites of the year, and I was relieved to find that the design was not let down by the smartphone's actual performance. Function follows form here; both are noteworthy and commendable, especially at $100. For a smartphone shopper on a budget (and -- sigh -- on T-Mobile) the Radar is one of your best choices. If HTC can free it from the T-Mo trap, it could have a cross-network superstar. I suppose the Radar retains some of its beauty in its scarcity or unavailability, however; perhaps it's better that it remains exclusively on T-Mobile.

First, if you’re interested in Nokia’s announced Windows Phone handsets–which includes the Lumia 800 and the more entry-level 710–you should wait until early 2012 and check Nokia’s website and with your carriers. Nokia had announced that it is going to be working more closely with carriers for the U.S. market, even going as far as announcing that it would be abandoning its unlocked phone strategy. This is good news if you’re looking to pay a subsidized price for a Lumia smartphone and don’t mind signing a two-year contract; you can pick up a Lumia from a U.S. carrier starting in 2012. T-Mobile USA and AT&T are both speculated to pick up the Lumia in some form or another.If you’re in the U.S. and are interested in Nokia’s debut Windows Phone 7 handset, the Nokia Lumia 800, which I had just recently reviewed, you may be disappointed to know that there isn’t a way to get one yet Sateside without hopping a plane to Europe. Various importers are showing the smartphone as being available only for pre-order and Amazon’s U.S. site doesn’t have a listing for the device as of the time of this writing. At this point, there’s speculation that due to high demand for the Lumia 800, unlocked versions of the phone may not be made available by Nokia until early 2012.

2. Import. Second, if you’re really interested in importing the phone and don’t mind paying a higher premium for a SIM-unlocked handset, you can look at importers, such as Expansys-USA and Clove.co.uk for the Lumia 800. Chances are, both retailers should begin getting unlocked inventory in by the end of the year, giving you a small window of time to showcase your geek coolness before Lumia smartphones start hitting carriers’ portfolios Stateside, should you want to get one sooner than later. If you go this route, be prepared to pay a slight premium for the geek chic factor–Expansys is listing the pre-order price at $790.
3. Uncertainty. Third, if you’re truly interested in the Nokia and Lumia brands in the U.S., it’s still too early to tell what devices will actually land Stateside. Though Nokia has promised that its Lumia device(s) would arrive in the U.S., the Lumia-maker still has not announced which model(s) would make it here. For now, there are two announced models, but potentially a yet-to-be-announced Lumia could arrive in the U.S. as well.
4. Alternatives and Substitutes. AppleCare+ was introduced in conjunction with theiPhone 4S, offering buyers of Apple's latest mobile phone technology the ability to protect their purchase for two years, even if the incident is accidental (a feature not available with previous versions of AppleCare).

The original plan for AppleCare+ was to offer the ability to purchase it at the same time as youriPhone 4S purchase. For $99, users receive phone support and in-store technical support for two years from the purchase date of their phone as well as the ability to get the phone replaced at a discounted rate of $49 should accidental damage be the reason for replacement.

Are you still with me? Good, but it was a little more complicated as I found out when going with my girlfriend to purchase her iPhone 4S about a week ago. According to the Apple Store associate who helped us, customers had to purchase AppleCare+ for their iPhone 4S at the same time as the phone, or you could still purchase AppleCare+ if you had to get your iPhone 4S replaced for accidental damage, but only if it occurred in the first year.

Basically, if the phone was going to be dropped, it had to be within the first year to take advantage of AppleCare+. Thankfully, Apple has revised its policy for AppleCare+ and made it easier for customers to figure out if they want (or need) it. The new policy states that customers may still purchase AppleCare+ at the same time they purchase their iPhone 4S or they can wait up to 30 days to get it. However, if you wait, you must bring your iPhone 4S into an Apple Store to have it inspected at the Genius Bar before purchase.

The changes made a confusing product much less confusing. The real question is whether AppleCare+ is worth it. For $99 you get a discounted rate for two accidental damage incidents of $49 each. Nokia N97 allows me to make Cheap International calls

Handling the N97 for the first time I was impressed with the build quality. The phone felt very rugged/sturdy and although quite a tall device it sat nicely in the hand. The menu, camera and volume buttons are made of metal and are all raised from the plastic casing making using them a pleasure. The send and end keys are both touch sensitive and very responsive. As the screen can be locked this sensitivity is not an issue. What is an issue however is the lock/unlock button. It is a sliding plastic button on the left side of the device and using it is extremely awkward. When using the phone one handed I can not find a way to unlock the screen that feels natural. The way you have to slide the button feels just odd and to make things worse I found that often it did not work and had to be slid again. Sometimes upon unlocking it would take a couple of seconds for the screen to activate. Not the end of the world but I would find it annoying if using the N97 permanently.
